Handing out Senate Seats?

Do you really believe handing out NY's Senate seat to Caroline Kennedy, someone that has never received a vote for anything as much as dog catcher, is any less corrupt than selling Obama's seat for $500K? Kennedy basically paid installments on the family plan in advance over years instead of a one time payment. I don't see much difference in the level of corruption.
