What about the new dodge with v 8 eng? I guess it was to get better gas mileage?

the system that dodge has developed is working a lot better than the ones that gm came out with on the cadillacs,so far they have had minimal problems from them,and they have proven to be more efficient than the ones that gm had,you got to keep one thing in mind computer operated parts are more better due to the fact that we have more technology too work with now days,and better developers to build the parts with,when gm did this they wanted to be the first people to have a system like that and other car company's stayed away from it because they knew they would have to many problems with it,its different now days though we have the technology and the people to build it and make it more reliable,good luck.
